Sunday Strawberry Wine Slushee

wineslusheeBecause I like my bourbon & my wine, and find every excuse I can (surgeries notwithstanding) to skip the gym, I try to eat as healthy as I can at least 80% of the time.  That includes trying to get my fruits and vegetables in.

I love my #VitamixProfessionalSeries750, with it’s dial setting for freezing smoothies, cooking piping hot soups, and even for cleaning itself when I’m through, so I go out of my way to find reasons to use one of the best appliances in my kitchen.  Having thrown the last 2 over ripe bananas into the freezer, and not finished the bottle of #WesterlySauvingnonBlanc that I opened last night, gave me the perfect excuse to use it today.

I not only managed to polish off the last of a great bottle of wine (this is one time when your choice of wine matters), but combining it with 3 different fruits took care of half of my #MediterraneanNutritionPyramid daily fruit requirements! #HighFiveMe

Sunday Strawberry Wine Slushee (makes 2)

  • 2 Large Strawberries
  • 2 Frozen Ripe Bananas
  • 1 Medium Peach (Peeled and Pitted)
  • 4 oz White Wine (I used A non-citrus heavy Sauvignon Blanc)
  • Ice
  1. Add all ingredients to blender
  2. Add as much ice as you want for the degree of thickness/slushiness you want
  3. Adjust the amount of wine to taste

Great on a hot day by the pool or as a brunch treat in place of, or alongside, mimosas.

Enjoy! #GirlsGoneWine
